The Brazilian Federal Revenue Service monitors transactions via Pix above R$ 5,000 monthly through the e-Financeira system since January 2025. Understand how the monitoring works, who is affected, and why there is NO taxation on Pix.
What Changed in 2025?
On January 1, 2025, new rules from the Brazilian Federal Revenue Service came into effect, which update the provision of information by financial institutions.
Important: The Brazilian Federal Revenue Service has ALWAYS received data on Pix since 2020. What changed was the inclusion of fintechs and digital wallets.
Main Changes
| Item | Before | Now (2025) |
|---|---|---|
| Who reports | Traditional banks | Banks + Fintechs + Digital wallets |
| Limit for Individuals | R$ 2,000/month | R$ 5,000/month |
| Limit for Companies | R$ 6,000/month | R$ 15,000/month |
How Monitoring Works
e-Financeira: The Revenue Service’s System
The e-Financeira is an electronic system that is part of the SPED (Public System of Digital Bookkeeping) and has been receiving financial information since 2003.
What is sent:
- Monthly sum of transactions (not transaction by transaction)
- Opening and closing of accounts
- Credit operations
- Investments
- Private pension plans
Monitored Values
Individuals:
- Monthly transactions above R$ 5,000
- Sum of all operations (Pix + TED + DOC + card + withdrawals)
Companies:
- Monthly transactions above R$ 15,000
- All types of transactions
Practical Example
Case 1: Individual
Monthly transactions:
- Pix received: R$ 3,000
- Pix sent: R$ 1,500
- TED: R$ 800
- Total: R$ 5,300
Result: Financial institution reports the total amount of R$ 5,300 to the Revenue Service (does not detail each transaction)
Case 2: Below the Limit
Monthly transactions:
- Pix: R$ 2,000
- TED: R$ 1,000
- Total: R$ 3,000
Result: NOT reported to the Revenue Service (below R$ 5,000)
